As a subsidiary of Energie Calw GmbH, deer GmbH is rethinking mobility to make it sustainable, flexible and accessible in various regions. The e-car sharing service plays a central role in the company’s strategy of connecting rural areas to urban transportation through CO2-free mobility solutions. As part of this strategy, it will use Invers’ car sharing solution in the future for its 600+ fully electric vehicles at over 400 locations in southern Germany.

Station-flexible car sharing for flexible vehicle return
deer has been offering EV car sharing since 2019 and has continuously expanded its range. A key special feature: deer offers its vehicles in the station-flexible car sharing model. In contrast to conventional station-based car sharing, this means that journeys from A to B are possible across the entire network. Users can therefore rent the car at one station and return it at another, which is ideal for commuters, municipalities and companies and is certainly one of the reasons for the success of the service. The switch to the latest telematics solution from Invers was now necessary to make booking, vehicle access and fleet management more efficient and reliable in the future: with stable 4G connectivity, the CloudBoxx guarantees reliable wireless connections even in rural areas. “Our mission is to establish flexible and climate-friendly mobility solutions in rural areas and to get from A to B in a way that is both individual and environmentally friendly,” says Selina Söhner, Head of Division at deer GmbH. “With the new CloudBoxx, we can further professionalize this claim with higher availability, better network coverage and innovative functions for greater customer satisfaction.”

A good car sharing experience, vehicle diversity and easy installation
Other key benefits of the new solution: The deer team is relying on the new CloudBoxx functions such as integrated smoke and damage detection. In addition to higher vehicle availability, the mobility experts can also ensure that the cars are technically in the best condition and clean, thus guaranteeing a good user experience. “We want to offer our customers a trouble-free, easy-to-use and completely clean mobility experience. We have found the best technology partner for the technical implementation in Invers,” continues Söhner. In addition, deer benefits from the fact that new vehicle models can be integrated quickly with the CloudBoxx solution – an important criterion for deer’s growth-oriented fleet management. In day-to-day operations, the new solution also has the advantage that the specialist staff can install it themselves after appropriate training. This allows the team to organize the rollout flexibly and efficiently and implement future fleet growth technically independently. “Our approach is to offer car-sharing companies such as deer technical solutions that are tailored precisely to the car-sharing use case,” says Bharath Devanathan, Chief Business Officer at Invers. “When it comes to car sharing in rural areas and car sharing with electric cars, deer faces two additional challenges and we are delighted to support the team.”

Focus on further growth and international markets
With currently around 600 car sharing and 400 car subscriptions and based on steadily growing demand, deer intends to further expand its network of e-car sharing and charging infrastructure locations in the coming months. Partnerships with local authorities, companies, housing associations and climate protection initiatives play a key role in this. In addition to the Germany-wide offering, the team also has its sights set on neighboring European countries. The new telematics solution is the technological basis for continuing this growth path sustainably and efficiently.
